Annual Increment for Bihar Government Employees

Every Bihar state government employee receives an annual increment in basic pay on their Increment Due Date (IDD). Under the 7th Pay Commission which Bihar has adopted, the increment rate is 3% of current basic pay, rounded to the next pay matrix cell. Most employees have July 1 as their IDD.

For employees who joined between February 2 and August 1, the first increment falls on July 1 of the following year. For those joining between August 2 and February 1, the first increment is on January 1 of the next year. Your complete increment history is visible in the HRMS Bihar portal. To access it, first use the guide to access HRMS Bihar portal login page.

✅ 7th Pay Commission Increment Formula — Bihar
Annual increment = 3% of current basic pay, rounded to next pay matrix cell. Example: Basic ₹44,900 × 3% = ₹1,347 → New basic = ₹46,200 (next matrix cell). All allowances — DA, HRA — recalculate on the new basic automatically in HRMS Bihar payroll.

How to Check Your Increment Details on HRMS Bihar

  1. Login to hrms.bihar.gov.in. If you have never logged in before, the HRMS Bihar login guide walks you through it.
  2. Go to Service Book section on your dashboard.
  3. Inside Service Book, find Pay Revision or Increment History tab.
  4. You will see: current basic pay, last increment date, next increment due date, and all past increments with effective dates and revised amounts.
  5. Cross-check with your latest payroll — the basic pay should match your post-increment figure.
âš ī¸ Increment Due But Not Reflected in Salary?
If your IDD has passed but salary still shows old basic pay, contact your DDO immediately. The DDO processes increment in HRMS Bihar payroll. Delayed increments must be paid with arrears from the due date — this is a legal right. Escalate to the HRMS Bihar helpdesk if DDO is unresponsive.

Effect of Increment on Other Components

After your increment, generate a fresh salary certificate from HRMS Bihar — especially for bank loan applications which require your current income figures, not last year's.
