What is GPF for Bihar Government Employees?
General Provident Fund (GPF) is a mandatory retirement savings scheme for Bihar state government employees recruited before January 1, 2004. Every month, a fixed percentage of your basic pay is automatically deducted and deposited into your personal GPF account. The Bihar government guarantees interest on this amount â and the entire balance including interest is returned at retirement.
Employees who joined after January 1, 2004 are covered under NPS (National Pension System) instead. If you are unsure which scheme applies to you, check your monthly salary â your deduction column clearly shows either "GPF" or "NPS". For background on how provident funds work in India, Wikipedia's article on General Provident Fund is a reliable reference. To access your account, you first need to login â see the HRMS Bihar Login 2026 complete guide if you need help.
